Intergenerational Faith Formation

The 2017-2018 religious education year will include a family faith formation program that will bring together everyone in your family's home, from the youngest to the oldest, from children to parents and grandparents, to participate in the Sunday Mass and grow in faith and knowldege of it by participating in a program after Mass. All will particpate in the Sunday 9:00 a.m. Mass and gather in Father Morgan Hall immediately following in the Mass. After a chance to greet one another and have a snack and something to drink, the session will continue with an introductory activity based on the lesson of the day for all ages. Then we will continue to explore the topic of the day in either age-specific or family-based break out groups. Before the session ends at 11:00 a.m., all participatns will regather for a closing activity or prayer. There will be additional sessions (children only) for children preparing for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist.

Faith Formation Calendar & Curriculum

Middle School, 5 - 8 Grade

The Grade 5 & 6 curriculum is based upon the Pflaum Gospel Weeklies’ Venture series.

Venture bases the children’s weekly catechesis on the Sunday Gospels and joins children to the ongoing life of their parish community at Sunday Eucharist. Each Venture lesson teaches both Scripture and doctrine, which together form Catholic Tradition.

Participation in the 5:30 pm Sunday Mass is an integral part of the curriculum. The parish assembly becomes a witness to it young members of the value of listening to Jesus’ Word and shaping our lives around his message and example.

The Grade 7 & 8 curriculum is based upon the Pflaum Gospel Weeklies’ Vision series.

The Vision series puts Jesus Christ at the center of catechesis by building lessons around the Sunday Gospels of the liturgical year. Through liturgical catechesis, we enter with the young people we teach into the mystery of Jesus Christ and discover the mission to which he calls us in our world.

Participation in the 5:30 pm Sunday Mass is an integral part of the curriculum. The parish assembly becomes a witness to its young members of the value of listening to Jesus’ Word and shaping our lives around his message and example.
